Czech steel exports sink to 14-year low
Czech steel exports declined 14% on-year in the first half of 2023 to 1.9 million tonnes, their lowest level since 2009. Amid slowing economic growth, imports also declined considerably, by over 500,000t to almost 3mt, says Czech and Slovak steel association Steel Union.
Second-quarter apparent steel consumption dropped over 400,000t on-year to around 1.5mt. This was more or less flat versus Q1, Kallanish notes.
