CSI asks for slab exemption
West Coast steelmaker California Steel Industries (CSI) is asking President Donald Trump to exclude its slab feedstock from his planned 25% blanket 232 tariff, Kallanish learns from a company release.
CSI uses imported slabs from Mexico, Brazil and Japan to produce coil and welded pipe, due to a commercial shortage of domestic slabs, the company says.
