African crude steel output declines in June
The combined crude steel production of the six African countries reporting to worldsteel decreased by 9.7% on-month and 9.6% on-year in June, totalling 1.65 million tonnes. The decline was primarily driven by Libya and Egypt.
However, first-half output reached 10.87mt, up 3.2% on-year, supported by Egyptian growth, Kallanish notes.
The continent's leading steel producer, Egypt, saw output decrease 16.6% on-month and 9.9% on-year in June to 743,300t.…
