Costlier scrap, billet push up UAE rebar prices
Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Steel (ESI) has increased its rebar price for the domestic market by AED 115/tonne ($31) on-month for January deliveries to AED 1,900/t ($517) ex-works.
The hike is purely driven by the increase in international scrap and billet prices witnessed over the last month. Demand has improved “…a little bit,” says a Dubai-based trader. However, two local producer sources say any improvement has been negligible.
