Cosco boosts VLOC fleet with new orders
The Shanghai-headquartered China Ocean Shipping Company (Cosco) will boost its fleet of 400,000 deadweight tonne Valemax very large ore carriers (VLOCs) after ordering seven to be built in Shanghai. The expanded fleet is a boost to attempts by Brazil’s Vale to cut its costs, a key factor for future iron ore prices, Kallanish notes.
