Steel demand contraction slashes Cemtas production
Turkey’s Cemtas produced 107,201 tonnes of crude steel in the nine months through September, down -21.7% on-year. Rolled products output was down -16.5% to 102,372t, Kallanish notes.
The company reported a -14.1 on-year decline in total sales in January-September, with domestic sales down by -6.8 to 67,411t and exports falling -24.7% to 37,412t. The share of exports in overall sales thus fell to 35.7% from 40.7% in the first nine months of 2018.
