Construction slowdown hampers Ezz performance, but exports increase
Ezz Steel saw consolidated sales fall 4% on-year in 2020 to 4.47 million tonnes, led by a 10% drop in long steel volumes as construction activity was curtailed by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Local demand in Egypt was negatively affected due to the suspension of building permits for six months from May to November 2020, the firm says.
Although longs sales totalled 3.51mt, flats sales rose 12% last year to 1.3mt.
