Construction demand supports Chinese rebar prices
China's rebar market has remained firm this week with prices supported by construction site demand, Kallanish notes.
In Shanghai on Thursday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,350-3,380/tonne ($475-479/t), up CNY 10/t from the previous week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, meanwhile, the rebar contract for October 2020 closed at CNY 3,367/t, CNY 65/t higher from Wednesday and CNY 24/t higher week-on-week.
