State-driven construction supports Russia’s steel demand: rating agency
The construction sector provided the main support for Russian steel demand in the third quarter, largely thanks to the state programme of preferential mortgage lending, says the National Credit Ratings (NCR) agency.
Consumption of steel in construction increased in Q3 by 6% on-year. However, the automotive industry decreased demand by -16.9%, railway industry by -46.8%, mechanical engineering by -5%, and the pipe industry by -10.2%.
