New deals confirm coking coal price slide
Seaborne coking coal prices increased rapidly over the start of the year as Chinese steel prices surged. As support from China fades however, they could be in for further declines, Kallanish notes.
A quantity of 75,000 tonnes of branded hard coking coal sold at $85.75/tonne fob Australia for July shipment on globalCOAL on Thursday. That compares with a deal at $97/t for May shipment signed in late April.
