Coking coal price ticks up but BHPB pessimistic
A trade on globalCOAL suggested a short term pick-up in coking coal prices over recent days, although prices remain well down on the start of the year. BHP Billiton meanwhile has said it expects lower prices in the short term, Kallanish notes.
75,000 tonnes of branded hard coking coal traded on globalCOAL at $78.50/tonne fob Australia for December shipment. Branded cargos sold at $77.50/t on Monday and $78/t on Tuesday.
