CMES signs freight contract with Vale
China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) has signed a contract to ship iron ore for Vale for up to 27 years. The new deal will mirror one Vale recent signed with Cosco (see Kallanish 21 March), with each seeing 16 million tonnes/year of ore shipped from Brazil to China.
The deal was signed in Beijing as Vale’s executive manager for shipping and marketing iron ore visited China. The transport will begin in the first half of 2018.
