Keep iron ore prices high, stable says Cliffs
Keeping the intrinsic value of iron ore high, rather than slashing prices at all costs, is the key to stabilising the global market, according to Cliffs Natural Resources ceo Lourenco Goncalves.
In the company’s second quarter earnings conference call, Goncalves praises the decision by iron ore major Rio Tinto to replace ceo Sam Walsh with Jean-Sébastien Jacques. Walsh retired in July and had served as ceo since 2013, Kallanish notes.
