Cleveland-Cliffs turns focus to future

US iron ore producer and prospective flat-rolled entrant Cleveland-Cliffs saw its profits drop in 2019, though a new era for the company is about to begin with the acquisition of legacy steelmaker AK Steel.  Cleveland earned $293 million on sales of $2 billion in 2019, down from earnings of $1.1 billion on sales of $2.3 billion in 2018.
