CISA: iron ore pricing needs new mechanism
The China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) says the market is in need of a new iron ore pricing mechanism. The current leading indices are too easily manipulated and have deviated from their original intention, it adds.
At the 2021 China Steel Market Outlook Annual Meeting on 19 December, Luo Tiejun, vice president of CISA, said leading indices have largely decoupled from spot transactions, and are highly dependent on futures and swaps.
