CIS demand to contract 'severely' in 2020: worldsteel
CIS steel demand will decrease in 2020, according to the latest worldsteel forecast monitored by Kallanish.
Regional demand is expected to amount to 52.7 million tonnes, down by -10.3% on-year compared to 58.8mt in 2019. It will rebound by 7.1% on-year in 2021 to 56.6mt.
Russia will consume 39.1mt of steel in 2020, down by -10% on-year compared to 43.5mt in 2019. Demand is expected to rise to 41.7mt in 2021, up by 6.5% on-year.
