CIS pig iron prices stable, sellers remain bullish

CIS merchant pig iron suppliers managed to achieved slightly higher prices in sales to the US in the past week. The modest increase was however absorbed by higher freight rates, resulting in lower fob prices. Although US domestic scrap prices have settled at even higher-than-expected levels, gaining up to $60/gross ton for some grades, US steel producers are yet to react with higher bids for CIS pig iron.
