Chongqing Steel launches caster upgrade
Chongqing Iron & Steel (Chonggang) began a caster upgrade project on 3 April, aiming to boost capacity at its No.7 billet caster, Kallanish notes.
The reason for the upgrade is to give further support its longs production. The steelmaker estimates that construction will last five months, transforming the caster to a six-strand billet caster, with capacity of 1.4 million tonnes/year.
