Chinese rod exports lose share on high prices

The Chinese wire rod export market continues to see suppliers raise prices, even though they are priced out of the market, Kallanish notes. On Thursday, 6.5mm diameter mesh-grade wire rod was assessed at $440/tonne fob China, up $10-15/t week-on-week. Almost all exporters raised their offers to $440/t fob China or more, as the local Chinese steel market strengthened this week.
