Demand supports Chinese wire rod export price recovery
The continuous growth of domestic demand has supported the Chinese wire rod market. Meanwhile, tight supply of wire rod has led to a continuous increase in domestic and export prices, Kallanish notes.
This week, northern Chinese steel mills have raised their offers for wire rod to $520-530/tonne fob China, up by $5/t compared with last week. Some of those mills have almost filled December export order books, thanks to growing bookings to South America.
