Chinese steelmakers plan production halts in January
Some Chinese steelmakers have announced that they will reduce production in January as the Spring Festival holiday approaches and markets are quiet, Kallanish notes.
Shagang plans to halt a rebar mill for 15 days as from 5 January, cutting about 42,000 tonnes of rebar output. A market source familiar with Shagang tells Kallanish that the steelmaker had already taken orders for January and now did not plan to continue to take orders.
