Chinese steelmakers halt long steel production in December

Fewer Chinese steelmakers are announcing planned maintenance in December as current demand and steel profits per tonne are firm, Kallanish notes. Fangda Special Steel announced it will halt No.1 converter for 14 days and No.2 converter for seven days. This is expected to cut 53,000 tonnes of rebar output and 24,000t of rebar in coil output.
