Chinese steel steady as coking coal struggles
Chinese steel futures prices were firm on Monday but coking coal prices showed signs of further decline. A minimal boost to iron ore from storms over the weekend helped boost steel, Kallanish notes.
The May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up CNY 4/tonne at CNY 1,819/t ($277/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 17/t at CNY 1,924/t.
