Chinese steel futures lack momentum
The steel market as a whole remained silent on Wednesday, with a break in new policy announcements. Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures thus stabilised at the latest lows, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded January 2023 rebar contract closed CNY 6/tonne higher than Tuesday at CNY 3,580/t ($498/t), while the same contract for HRC gained CNY 4/t to CNY 3,627/t.
