Chinese scrap increases on demand recovery
The end of power restrictions in some regions of China has led to the recovery of demand for scrap from electric arc furnaces, and scrap prices have risen amid short supply.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,794/tonne ($590/t) including VAT. This is unchanged from Thursday and CNY 129/t higher compared with the previous Friday.
