Chinese rebar struggles in instability
China's rebar market remained flat last week as high Covid infection rates brought trading to a standstill.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,850-3,870/tonne ($551-554/t), unchanged on-week. The May 2023 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 4,005/t, up by CNY 44/t compared with Thursday but down CNY 44/t from the previous Friday.
