Chinese rebar rebounds on raw material support

The Chinese rebar market fluctuated upwards last week, but actual demand has not rebounded, Kallanish notes. In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,030-4,040/tonne ($616-617/t), up CNY 115/t from the previous week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, meanwhile, the rebar contract for January 2021 closed at CNY 4,033/t. This was CNY 220/t higher compared with Thursday but CNY 7/t lower than the previous Friday…
