Chinese rebar prices decline on lower demand

Chinese rebar prices weakened last week due to lower-than-expected sales in the spot market, Kallanish notes. In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,550-3,570/tonne ($511-514/t), down CNY 40/t from the previous week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange meanwhile, the rebar contract for October 2020 closed at CNY 3,799/t, CNY 33/t lower compared with last Friday but CNY 8/t higher than Thursday. …
