Chinese rebar jumps on demand
The Chinese rebar market has risen as expected after the Golden Week holiday, as demand recovered, Kallanish notes.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,610-3,620/tonne ($538-540/t), up CNY 85/t from last week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, meanwhile, the rebar contract for January 2021 closed at CNY 3,633/t, which was CNY 73/t higher compared with last trading day before the holiday.
