Chinese rebar increases despite weaker sales
The Chinese rebar market saw price increases last week, but market sentiment weakened as sales volumes declined, Kallanish notes.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,900-4,910/tonne ($752-753/t), up by CNY 30/t from a week before. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the rebar contract for October 2021 closed at CNY 5,116/t, CNY 9/t higher compared with Thursday and CNY 48/t higher than the previous Friday.
