Chinese rebar holds in holiday
Chinese rebar market trading has stalled, but market participants are uncertain about post-holiday market trends.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,830-3,850/tonne ($532-535/t), remaining unchanged on-week, Kallanish assesses. The May 2024 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 3,854/t on Thursday, up CNY 14/t compared with Wednesday and CNY 29/t higher from the previous Friday.
