Chinese rebar gains on output controls
Chinese construction steel prices rose last week on a policy push, but the move was weaker than expected.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,670-3,690/tonne ($512-515/t), up CNY 40/t from the previous week, Kallanish assesses. The October 2023 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 3,851/t, down CNY 10/t compared with Thursday but up CNY 28/t from last Friday.
