Chinese rebar gains on-week but trends down
Chinese rebar prices have turned down again after reaching a two-year peak this week, Kallanish notes.
In Shanghai on Wednesday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,440-4,460/tonne ($673-682/t), up CNY 190/t from the previous week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, meanwhile, the rebar contract for January 2021 closed at CNY 4,283/t. This was CNY 85/t lower compared with Tuesday and CNY 33/t lower than the previous Friday.
