Chinese rebar prices fall as demand weakens

The spot market price of rebar in China continued its downward trend at the beginning of the new year. Although supply remains tight, demand is undermining prices, Kallanish notes. In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,350-4,360/tonne ($673-674/t), down CNY 35/t from the previous week.
