Chinese rebar declines amid rainfall
China's rebar market fell slightly last week as the rainy season in eastern and southern China destabilised demand for construction steel.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,640-3,660/tonne ($501-504/t), down CNY 10/t, Kallanish assesses. The October 2023 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 3,721/t, down by CNY 2/t compared with Thursday and CNY 35/t lower from last Wednesday.
