China lowers railways' spend for 2018
China intends to spend less on its railway system in 2018, Kallanish notes. In spite of this, steel demand from the sector could increase as the emphasis turns to developing the high-speed rail network.
The country is planning to allocate CNY 732 billion ($115.79 billion) in fixed assets investment in its rail network this year, according to rail operator China Railway.
