Chinese HRC buying drives regional prices higher
China’s active importing of hot rolled coil continues to dominate the regional market, Kallanish notes. Prices have risen quickly and by large margins.
Two 10,000-tonne lots of SAE 1006 2mm thickness HRC from South Korea were booked last Wednesday at $460/tonne fob Korea, a regional trader reports. Another heard a larger tonnage of 35,000t booked at $475/t cfr China from this same South Korean mill.
