Chinese HRC holds steady after a volatile week
After ups and downs last week, Chinese hot rolled coil and plate prices finally held steady on Friday compared with the prior week, Kallanish notes.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 5.5x1,500mm Q235 HRC was traded at around CNY 4,020-4,040/tonne ($563-565/t), remaining unchanged on-week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the May 2024 contract for HRC gained CNY 2/t from Thursday and CNY 6/t on-week to CNY 4,032/t.
