Chinese billet import prices slip
Chinese buying prices for Indian billet have slipped, Kallanish notes. Indian mills are accepting lower prices because of dwindling domestic demand under the current month-long lockdown to rein in the coronavirus pandemic. Regional export demand is also weak because steel markets in many Asian countries are in standstill amid similar lockdowns.
