Chinese automotive demand firms on-year in May
China’s automotive companies produced 2.06 million vehicles in May, down from the 2.17m in April but still up a healthy 5.01% year-on-year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Actual finished steel demand from vehicle production was up even stronger by around 8.96% y-o-y to 3.31million tonnes, Kallanish calculates.
