Chinese automobile production barely recovers in May
China has seen its automotive production stabilise in May but only slightly. Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows China produced 2.087 million vehicles in May, an increase of 0.69% year-on-year but still down by -2.42% month-on-month.
Passenger vehicle output dipped -1.76% y-o-y to 1.75m units, while commercial vehicle output grew 15.55% y-o-y to 339,100 units. Implied monthly steel demand from automotive production was up 2.7…
