China's 2022 steel imports slump, exports stable
China’s finished steel cross-border transactions fell further in December. Annual exports achieved a stable level but imports lost a quarter due to weaker demand and Covid disruptions, Kallanish observes.
December exports of Chinese steel products came to 5.4 million tonnes, down 3.4% on-month but up 7.5% on-year. This took annual exports to 67.32mt with an increase of just 0.6% from 2021, according to data from the General Administration of Customs.
