China’s steel exports surge, imports slump
Over January-February this year, exports of Chinese steel products surged from a year earlier, while imports slumped simultaneously due to sluggish demand, according to data from the General Administration of Customs.
Two-month exports totalled 12.19 million tonnes, soaring 49% from the same period of 2022, Kallanish notes. The average realised price however, was down 14.4% at $1,229/t.
