China’s automotive steel demand surges year-to-date
China’s automotive production remained strong in the first half of 2016, according to the latest figures from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Implied hot rolled steel demand for the first half of the year has broken a record of over 20 million tonnes, putting automotive on track to be one of the best performing steel demand sectors of 2016, Kallanish notes.
