Strong domestic market lifts China's rod export prices
China's wire rod export prices jumped ahead of the October holidays, spurred by the strong domestic construction steel market.
However, China's major steel mills did not publicly provide offers to the market in late September. It is difficult to conclude export transactions, and steel mills have chosen to slow down their wire rod export business and switch to other products. Market traders report offers at $850-860/tonne fob China, for December shipment.
