China’s shipbuilding completions weaken in March
China’s shipbuilders completed 8.35 million deadweight tonnes of ships in the first three months of the year, down -11.8% from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The slowdown comes as the sector struggles with massive shipping oversupply and low freight rates, although new orders appear finally to be flattening out.
