Chinese scrap recovers from mill overhauls
China's scrap market has entered a quiet period, and electric arc furnace steel mills have announced maintenance to slow down market purchases.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,737/tonne ($577/t) including VAT. This is up CNY 3/t from Thursday and up CNY 4/t compared with the previous Friday.
