China's scrap prices jump on fewer arrivals
Chinese scrap prices jumped ahead of the May holiday as steel prices strengthened. Scrap arrivals continued to decline but demand remained stable, and supply therefore remained tight.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,558/tonne ($550/t) including VAT. This is up by CNY 2/t from Thursday and CNY 68/t higher compared with the previous Friday.
