China's scrap market slips, mills face losses
China's steel market has remained weak since last Monday's slump, and scrap prices recorded their fastest weekly drop of the year so far.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,189/tonne ($545/t), including VAT. This is CNY 3/t lower from Thursday and down CNY 466/t compared with the previous Friday.
