Chinese scrap falls despite tight supply
China's scrap market continued to decline last week. Limits on logistics due to the college entrance examination and the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday led to a slowdown in market supply.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,723/tonne ($376/t), including VAT. This is CNY 3/t lower from Thursday and down CNY 56/t from a week before.
